Sleeping Pads...

I don't get excited about sleeping pads. I know I need one for my hips and shoulders to make it through the trail, but I just don't get pumped about them like I do other gear. I am always in debate too, should I go with a inflatable even though I have never liked them, should I stick with my thermarest Z-lite, do I want something to fit in my pack? outside my pack? Will it really make all that much of a difference if I don't have an inflatable in the high sierras? I think my main problem is I'm not picky enough with sleeping pads. I love to be picky and know what I am looking for with other gear but not sleeping pads.
So then the only thing I really care about are hips, shoulders, something that will let me sleep on my side, and R rating.
