I love backpacking. I love gear. But I am in no way a gear head. Above all things I love just being outside. I'm not an expert, but I'm trying to make informed decisions. Just to let you know where I'm coming from, the longest backpacking trip I have been on was 250 miles of trail. I hiked every weekend all summer in Colorado including tackling Meeker and Long's Peak in the same night/day. I trail run anywhere from 5-7 miles and rock climb as much as I can (which as I'm writing this means 3-4 days a week in the climbing gym as it is 20F outside.) I have been backpacking with my dad since I was young and backpacking by myself since I was 19. Usually 3-5 day trips. So I have some experience but not much. Take my word for what it's worth.
